I have no idea if this was purposely put on the glass, or if its from one of the many new age graffiti artists around, all I know is it really works well.

Yesterday I had the pleasure on going on a fantastic little photowalk around Dublin. Fantastic because I went to places I have been too loads of times, this time I had my camera with me!
Scott Kelby, a guru of all that is photoshop, organised this photowalk to take part in 100’s of different cities across the world on August 23rd, making it the largest gathering of photographers for one photowalk, quite an achievement. In Dublin the turnout was great with many stories and techniques discussed aswell as much lens and camera envy.
One place I have never taken pictures was Windmill Lane, where U2 recorded quite a lot of their music, and of course the Graffiti Wall. Every time you go down the wall has changed, its almost like the wall is living and evolving.
I really liked this photo...

How nice it was to be out and about with no rain falling on my head the other day. I decided to venture down to Merrion Square to see if there were any new flowers starting to shoot up, even though spring aint arrived really yet. I did stop though to take a shot of these 2 benches destroyed by graffiti. As I have said in the past some graffiti is very artistic this on the other hand is plain old vandalism.
I desaturated the shot quite a bit and gave it a good bit of contrast hopefully to give the impression of the stark reality of vandalism.

While walking around Dublin today I noticed for the first time these Dolls Heads stuck to various walls of buildings.
On my return to work I was told who the graffiti artist was, a man who calls himself Asbestos.
He is also responsible for a load of Lost posters up on lamposts and other means of signage.
Some people would say graffiti is destructive, but these dolls heads really are a great example of fantastic street art.
I recommend having a look at theartofasbestos.com and another great street artist that has come to my attention in the past week a guy called Banksy in the UK...

I’m heading away for a few days to catch the last of the sun but I thought I’d leave you with these two pictures I took on Manor St in Dublin 7.
The election is definitely on!...

As time allows, I’ve been spending some time in the past few weeks over in my flickr account trying to update the tags, links and what-not. This photo seems to have generated some interest* even though I misspelt ‘graffiti’. Either it’s an interesting photo or there’s a lot of youfs who cant spel like me.
*When I say ‘interest’, I mean 16 people have viewed it! But beggars can’t be choosers.
DBC appears in a lot of the graffiti I photograph. I wonder if this tag belongs to one person or a collective?
Here’s another one by DBC (I think) and a critique. Ironically, DBC may be a woman (photo: girls rule)…
A cursory google search says it is the Da Bomb Club. Hmmm. A bit more digging is required or maybe you, my dear...

The poster reads:
Lost plug
I’ll be needing it back to plug in my trouser press. If you find it could you mail me at lost@theartofasbestoss.com
I thought it might be a band but when I went to the website, it turns out he’s an artist…
THESE LOST POSTERS SEEK TO HIGHLIGHT HOW WE DISPOSE OF EVERYTHING DAILY AND FORGET ABOUT THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE - THE THINGS THAT MAY ENRICH OUR LIVES UNTIL THEY’RE GONE. EVERYONE’S LOOKING FOR SOMETHING. BUT WOULD YOU REALLY CARE IF YOU EVER FOUND ANY OF THESE THINGS......

I’m off on a road trip for the next few days - two days on bizness and two for relaxation. Loadza driving butt hopefully, I wont get caught speedin or anyphink like that by the Guardie. Below is picture I touk recently. As the saying goes, ‘you might say that but I couldn’t possibly comment‘.
Hopefully, I’m a bitter spellr than the grafitti artist.
TTFN....

Recently, I posted about a tcal article about the written on the city website. Written on the City is ‘a collaborative art initiative to collect and share graffiti from around the world‘. The tcal author, Danger, bemoaned the fact that there were no photo’s from Dublin. Well, I submitted one and, guess what, they’ve accepted it! It’s photo number 263 (so maybe they’re desperate?). Here’s their link so why not visit and leave a comment?
Here’s the photo and my flickr 3Mb link.
Does this make me a Published Artist? More like a Piss Artist!!
Back in the real world, I mentioned yesterday that today would a paperwork day but I got bored sitting at my desk looking out on a reasonably nice December day. So I decided a bit of retail therapy...

Well, did you survive today’s stormy weather? The wind was pretty strong and the rain didn’t help either. Luckily I live in Dublin city and have a roof over my head. I feel sorry for those who are homeless and who had to endure a battering from today’s horrible weather. Homelessness shouldn’t be tolerated in the Ireland of today. Obviously some choose the lifestyle (sic) but the vast majority could do with some help. Simon, the homeless charity, is non-religious as far as I can tell and it’s a charity I donate to. I believe they even do ‘wet’ hostels. Before you think I’ve gone soft, it is possible to increase your donation by filling out this Revenue form. It allows any charity to get ‘more’ out of your donation. Go on,...

Looks a little familiar, no?
