I interviewed one of my favourite MCs last week. He is definitely my favourite UK MC. Quite a character. He mostly talked about his obsession with Father Ted. Mostly.

Having hit a half century of issues, AU magazine started a poll to find out the best songs to come out of Northern Ireland since the magazine’s inception five years ago. The top 20 can be seen after the jump. How does it stack up NI music fans? I’ve only heard most on the list by name so I’m thinking of the top 50 as an enabler to get over my ignorance of NI bands. Of course, My favourite right now would be Cashier no.9.
The 50th issue magazine has a metallic cover, plus a CD featuring tracks from the top ten artists as voted for in the poll so you should be able to spot it easily enough if you want to see the full list.

I love how this has caused a furore over here. It just a music magazine (albeit now at a cheaper €4.95) with a FREE CD featuring Heathers, Fight Like Apes, Adebisi Shank, Halfset, The Jimmy Cake, Mumblin’ Deaf Ro, The Vinny Club, Jape vs Delorentos and more. This country. You people. There’s also an article by myself about the Illegal Art label which talks to Girl Talk and Steinski about music copyright and sampling. it is accompanied by superb illustration from BrenB. Forget about Abba, buy it for that and tell me what you think....
UK Media group Emap today confirmed reports that it is considering a sale of its radio stations in Ireland as it revealed full-year underlying revenue would be down 2 percent with difficult conditions to continue. Despite the tough outlook, the group said trading was in line with expectations, as a good performance from the business-to-business unit offset weakness in consumer media. The group, which owns magazines FHM and Grazia and radio stations Magic and Kiss, said it was considering options for its stations in the Republic of Ireland which include Today FM, FM 104 and Highland, including a possible sale. On a call with analysts, Chief Executive Tom Moloney said they were not considering a review of its UK stations.
