LouderVoice — Tuesday Push — Oct. 7th 2008 via John Keyes October 7th, 2008 at 23:58

image Hosted on Flickr LouderVoice is: dedicated to helping you find great reviewers wherever they write and helping to build the reputation and readership of those reviewers. At the moment, those reviews are here, on blogs, micro-blogs and via SMS. Very soon we’ll be adding lots more sources like social networks and video sharing sites. So that’s it, it’s a reviews site of everything and anything. It’s like the Wikipedia of opinion. I’ve often looked at the site but I’ve never contributed. The front page says you automatically get an account by texting my first review. Following on from the previous push and how downloadmusic.ie had offline and online integrated, I thought this would be a good way to start. I’ve recently been reading a lot of...

downloadmusic.ie — Tuesday Push — Sept. 23rd via John Keyes September 23rd, 2008 at 23:38

image Hosted on Flickr I’m a music lover but I’m a physical media hater. I’ve gone on record saying I won’t buy any more CDs purely because all I do when I get them is I rip them, put them back in their covers, and then stick them in a box. Pretty pointless when it’s obvious that downloading them makes more sense. I also like listening to bands I have never heard of, and not judge them on their chart success. So I’ve started surfing MySpace and I’ve found some good stuff up there. Admittedly some is rubbish, but there is good stuff out there if you are willing to go look for it. The easiest place to go looking for new music is your local city or town, and keep an eye out for when Irish bands are playing. I must admit I have never been to a gig...

eWrite Lite via John Keyes September 18th, 2008 at 22:30

image Hosted on Flickr I missed the Tuesday Push, so eWrite Lite gets an additional little plug on a Thursday instead. eWrite Lite is an easy to use and low cost piece of software designed to allow you to keep your website up to date from any location at any time. So in a nutshell eWrite Lite provides an easy way for non-web people to update their websites. It’s the kind of application that would stop your neighbour asking you add some new content. That young lad in the Eircom ad needs to buy a copy for his Granddad. It costs €200 for a yearly license which is a bit steep in my opinion, when you look at the prices of other web applications, but it’s definitely a cheaper option than getting some back street web design company to do it. As we all know there are lots of...

The Tuesday Push - eWrite Lite via Copacetic September 9th, 2008 at 23:30

image eWrite Lite is a lightweight online editor that allows novice users to create simple web pages online and publish them to their website. It comes with added value as the creator Gordon Murray is one of the great and good from the Peoples Republic of Cork so you will get timely support if you have a problem. I liked what I saw of eWrite Lite but I would suggest that Gordon make it free to use for up to 3 pages and then hit people with the price tag. Also 200 clams for an online editor seems a little steep, a lower price point might convert more users earlier in customers. Still great to see people trying to do something in this space in Ireland....

Tuesday Push : Crewger, a film site for the industry via Copacetic August 27th, 2008 at 22:21

image Crewger is little different to our usual Tuesday Push application vendors.A vertically focussed site that provides a spam free, rubbish free, vampire bite free place for the Irish film community to meet and organise themselves. The writing style is slick and conversational and I find myself being drawn into there world. Go for a browse and find out about film making in Ireland....

Toddle — The Newsletter is Simple via John Keyes' Weblog August 13th, 2008 at 00:54

image Toddle makes it very very easy to create a Newsletter. HTML email is tricky enough to get it to work across mail clients so if there’s an easy way to do then I’m all for it. I knocked together a quick Newsletter and it was a pretty painless experience. As you can see Thistle Pulling Monthly looks good in Mail.app and Gmail. Toddle newsletter rendered in Mail.app Toddle newsletter rendered in Gmail The other really really cool thing about Toddle is that there’s no signup process. To get started all you need is an email address. You get up and running very......

Pix.ie via John Keyes' Weblog July 29th, 2008 at 20:47

image Pixie is an easy to use photo sharing site. You can upload photos to Pixie using tools on their site or by emailing photo attachments to your secret address. When you have your photos up there, you can store them in albums, tag them, and share them with your friends and/or your family. It’s a fun site, it’s not really a competitor for SmugMug yet, but when it’s public API is released it is definitely on the way to challenging Flickr. So if you’re interested in photo sharing head over to Pixie and make up your own......
